TOUGE ALLIANCE DYNO DAY #2

It was the 2nd of June & it was still dark outside when I set off for the wonderful land of Dyno's (was still very sleepy).

I arrived at 6:30am to meet the "keen" ones at McDonald's South Road (across from Castle Plaza). After chowing down on some greasy goodness, we mosied onto our gracious host Ashley of Classic Performance Dyno Centre.

With the numbers looking grim we rolled off at 8am, but by 9am we had 13 cars.

1) Cameron's 2.0lt NA CG Lancer got us started with a 69.1 fwkw number which was a little lower than last year, but Ashley put it down to lack of servicing (now been fixed by Jared  )

2) James' 2.5lt Turbo XR5 Focus came up with a decent 116.8 fwkw. For some reason factory boost cut kept coming up so Ashley overrode this to allow 6psi.

3) Oppo's 1.6lt NA N13 Pulsar came how with a very decent 41.4 fwkw. Unfortunately the fuel pump decided to keep shi**ing itself and running out of flow @ 4500rpm. Maybe after a new fuel pump he could cap the 45kw!!

4) Adric's 2.0lt Turbo WRX brought the 1st of 3 AWD machines to the dyno. With 14psi running through the EJ20's veins it came home with 122.6kw at all 4. Ashley did mention the AFR needed a retune to stop it running so rich in the top end.

5) Billy's (one of Rosie's mates) 2.5lt Turbo Stagea Neo rolled up next bringing the 2nd of 3 AWD machines & running 13.5psi gave an impressive 174.8kw at all 4.

6) Mat's 2.0lt Turbo Lancer Evo 6 was the 3rd AWD to hit the dyno & there were quite high expectations for big numbers. 254kw was pulled at all 4 from 31psi but unfortunately a couple of issues arose not giving the large 300kw number that was being expected. Still a MASSIVE number from a 2.0lt 4 cylinder!!

7) Andrew's (a ringer) 1.3lt Turbo RX7 made some noise on it's way to the dyno room & with 12.5psi of boost produced an outstanding 203.2 rwkw which was quite a surprise for Andrew. Congrats!!

This brought about lunch prepared brilliantly by Marcus & Kim - Thanks

8) David's (another ringer) 2.5lt Turbo 1J Supra drifter was up next. With the locked diff clunking away it made it onto the dyno to pull 237.3 rwkw from 14.5psi. Once again this was a surprise number for David & he was beaming when he came out of the dyno room.

9) Promo's (go Prez) 3.8lt Supercharged Commo was now up for some action. Whilst running EXTREMELY rich & with only 8.5psi of boost he came home with 172.8 rwkw. Now we just have to get him to use it.

10) Cat's 1.3lt Turbo RX7 was next. Running EXTREMELY lean & with 6.5psi of boost came up with 140.6 rwkw which was up from last year. Nice work Cat.

11) Sam's 2.0lt Turbo 200SX came back for another run after last year & with a driver acknowledged "no maintenance" regime came up with 157 rwkw on 12psi. A little down from last year but not unexpected.

12) Rick's (Sam's mate who brough all the ringers) 2.0lt Turbo 200SX was ready to see who would win the 200SX battle. With 12.5psi a number of 158.1 rwkw was produced. Sorry Sam, missed out by a bee's whisker.

13) Marcus' 2.5lt NA BMW Z4 was the last car to hit the dyno. Unfortunately the onboard computer system would not hook up with the dyno centre but after playing for a while the Z4 came back with 134 rwkw.
